Back to causes of Recurrent Miscarriages…

The risk of miscarriages also increases with women’s age and lifestyle relating to smoking, caffeine and alcohol intake, and the use of certain medication. For women under 35, recurrent miscarriages refers to 3 or more pregnancy loss; and 2 or more times in women over 35.

Fibroids infertility refers to common benign growth of the uterus muscles causing reduced fertility. The main symptom of fibroids infertility is pressure on the bladder and heavy period flow.  Fibroids may cause an alteration or reduction of blood flow to the uterine lining making it more difficult for an implanted embryo to grow and develop. Small fibroids that grow inside of the uterine cavity may act as a foreign body and result in an inflammatory reaction that makes the uterine environment hostile for an embryo to implant. Fibroids are also competing for space with the growing foetus and so their presence contributes to recurrent miscarriages.

Fibroids infertility can be treated with oral drugs to reduce and/or manage the size of the fibroids. In some cases, surgery is used to remove the fibroids.

Endometriosis infertility refers to the growth of cells similar to those that form the inside of the uterus outside the uterus and can result in scarring, tubal blockage and even ovarian cysts. One symptom of endometriosis infertility is painful intercourse. The endometrium secretes prostaglandins and for someone suffering from endometriosis infertility, prostaglandin secretion can be so high that it causes recurrent miscarriages. When a woman suffers from endometriosis infertility, her body’s immune system malfunctions and may recognise sperm and foetus as foreign object and attacks it, resulting in a miscarriage.

Endometriosis infertility can be treated with oral drugs and/or surgery. However, like fibroids infertility, this is not a permanent solution and the re-growth of the cells is the culprit of recurrent miscarriages. Alternative treatment such as homeopathy and Traditional chinese medicine have been successful in treating endometriosis infertility too.

Hormonal infertility refers to inability of the ovary to produce sufficient progesterone to maintain a pregnancy. There are several symptoms of hormonal infertility including night sweats, irritability, sleeping problem etc. Hormonal infertility can be treated with oral drugs or injection. Alternative treatment such as homeopathy and Traditional chinese medicine have also been successful in treating hormonal infertility.
